How to Choose the Best Social Media Marketing Strategy for Your Business

Not every social media strategy works for every business. A practical guide to choosing platforms, content, and metrics that lead to real conversations.

Social media strategy planning for a business

In today’s digital landscape, businesses need to use social media effectively to grow their brand and connect with their audience. But not every strategy works the same way for every business — what works for a restaurant rarely works for a dental clinic or a contractor.

The best strategy is not the one with the most posts. It is the one that brings the right people closer to a conversation with your business.

1. Start with your audience and the platforms they use

Before choosing what to post, define who you want to reach and where they spend their time. A local service business might get more from Instagram and Facebook; a B2B company, from LinkedIn; a brand that explains processes visually, from short video.

  • Who is your ideal customer, and what problem are they trying to solve?
  • Which two or three platforms do they actually use? Start there instead of everywhere.
  • What do they need to see before they trust a business like yours?

2. Create content that supports your business goals

Content should align with what you sell. A useful mix: content that builds trust (results, processes, your team), content that educates (answers to common questions), and content that invites action (a clear offer and a way to reach you).

Likes are a signal. Conversations are the goal.

3. Organic and paid work better together

Organic content builds your reputation; paid campaigns on Meta put your offer in front of the people most likely to be interested. When both share the same message and lead to the same landing page or conversation, each one makes the other stronger.

4. Track and improve continuously

Track engagement metrics, but don’t stop there. The numbers that matter most are the ones closest to the sale: messages received, forms submitted, appointments booked, and how many of those became customers. Review them monthly and adjust what you publish based on what actually moves people forward.

Don’t leave messages waiting

Social media generates conversations at all hours. If someone writes on a Saturday night and gets an answer on Tuesday, the interest is often gone. Connecting your inboxes to a CRM, with AI support and automated follow-up, helps every message get a quick answer — exactly the gap the LIA Method is built to close.
